The small crossover has been around for a quite long time and as there is still no redesign on the sight, FCA is preparing updates that will keep this model competitive for some more time. We won’t see any particular change in terms of the styling, but there’s a lot of things that are about to happen under the skin. Of course, the 2021 Jeep Renegade Plug-In Hybrid is the most important novelty we are about to see. This will be the first electrified model from Jeep and we expect that the Renegade will finally come with strong dynamics and overall performances.
On the other side, the rest of the lineup is about to carry on in the same way, with the familiar design and pretty much the same features. Of course, novelties in terms of standard equipment are always possible, but most of the things should remain the same. Also, the 2021 Jeep Renegade should arrive a little bit earlier than usual.

2021 Jeep Renegade Plug-In Hybrid
There’s no doubt that this is the biggest novelty we are about to see in the 2021 Jeep Renegade. While the current model comes with two little bit underwhelming gasoline engines, the new electrified version will hit two flies with one stong. It will be more fuel-efficient, but also significantly more powerful. At the front axle, things will remain pretty much familiar. You may count on the same turbo-four engine that delivers 177 horsepower. On the other side, the rear axle will come equipped with powerful electric motors, with around 135 horsepower.
Due to a different peak, the combined output will actually go around 240 horsepower, which in the output that promises significantly better driving dynamics. Allegedly, we can count on the 0-60 time in about 7 seconds. Moreover, the new model will feater a 31-mile all-electric range, while the top speed in this model will go up to 81 mph.
2021 Jeep Renegade Engines
Other than the new PHEV model, the 2021 Jeep Renegade will carry on with familiar engine options in the offer. There are two gasoline units available. The first one is a familiar 2.4-liter four-cylinder, which is good for about 180 horsepower and comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission. There is also a smaller and more efficient 1.3-liter turbo-four, which is good for 177 horsepower, as we already mentioned. It also comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
When it comes to fuel economy, the turbo-four is obviously a better choice. It returns around 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. On the other side, the base 2.4-liter unit returns around 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
2021 Jeep Renegade Interior
The interior of this crossover used to be a strong point. However, this model hasn’t changed for almost six years. Meanwhile, many competitors came completely redesigned or updates, so it’s no wonder that Renegade shows signs of aging. Generally, we think that the overall interior quality is still very good for the class. When it comes to the interior room, things are a little bit mixed. The front row is pretty comfortable, while the second is a little bit tight in terms of legroom. On the other side, there is plenty of headroom.

When it comes to the cargo area, some things are good, some aren’t. For example, the cargo volume is typical for the class. You may count on 18.5 cubic feet behind the second row and 50.8 cubic feet of the overall cargo space. Also, we like the fact that rear seats fold flat. On the other side, we don’t like the tailgate and its quite narrow opening.
Features
There are always chances to see some novelties on the list of standard equipment, but we don’t expect too many of them in the 2021 Jeep Renegade. Most of the things should remain the same. This means that base models should continue with tech goodies like a touchscreen interface, voice control, Bluetooth, a USB port, and six speakers. Of course, higher trims offer much more, including goodies like a bigger touchscreen, nine-speaker premium audio system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, navigation, HD Radio, satellite radio etc. Also, there are plenty of comfort and convenience features available, including leather upholstery, heated front seats, power-adjustable driver seat etc.
When it comes to safety, a rearview came is the only safety feature but there is a whole bunch of available features. Some of the highlights are things like Blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, parallel and perpendicular park assist etc.

Release Date and Price
Given the new hybrid model, the 2021 Jeep Renegade is expected to arrive a little bit earlier than usual, probably next summer. When it comes to the price, we still don’t know how much will the new PHEV cost. On the other side, the base model should go around 22.500 dollars.
