Getting a chassis cab but remaining in the world of Super Duty pickup trucks wasn’t available before the arrival of F-550. This truck perfectly combined the two worlds and if we consider the last-year update, it looks like we won’t see any particular change for the next year. Both design characteristics and features are about to remain the same. So, the 2021 Ford F-550 carries on in the form of chassis cab, which is essentially an F-450 model. The two trucks share so many things, both in terms of mechanics and aesthetics. Furthermore, even the trim level organization is the same. Considering that no bigger changes are about to come, we presume that the 2021 Ford F-550 will hit the market sometime late in the year.
2021 Ford F-550 Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, bigger changes for the next year won’t come. The thing about this pickup truck is that, although it’s a chassis truck, it is essentially a Super Duty pickup, which shares a lot of things with F-450. This refers not just to mechanics, but to aesthetics as well. So, you can easily notice a familiar front end, which looks pretty much the same as any other Super Duty truck. That’s a fantastic thing for anyone who is looking for a pickup that’s capable but also comfortable and easy to drive.
One of the great benefits this pickup brings is an attractive cabin design, which feels far more comfortable compared to medium duty rivals. You may count on a more attractive dashboard, finer materials and more standard features. Comfort is at a pretty high level.
Even the trim level organization is pretty much the same as in the F-450 and other Super Duty models. This means you may count on the following versions: XL, XLT and Lariat.
As you may presume, the XL is a typical workhorse. It comes with a pretty modest list of standard equipment, which includes goodies like vinyl upholstery, 2.3-inch screen on the instrument cluster, classic AM/FM radio. The XLT includes all the above but also adds things like 4.2-inch TFT screen, cruise control, Sirius XM radio, 7-speaker audio system. Also, it replaces vynil with cloth upholstery.
Finally, the Lariat trim level includes loads of comfort and convenience features. Some of the things that come to mind are goodies like leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 8-inch instrument screen, navigation, dual-zone climate control, 10 speaker audio system and many more.
2021 Ford F-550 Engine
When it comes to the powertrain, things definitely won’t change for the next year. The 2021 Ford F-550 will carry on with three familiar engine options. This means that base models will come with a 6.2-liter V8, which is good for about 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. You may also count on a new 7.3-liter V8 unit, which in this case puts out around 350 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque.
Of course, there is also a well-known 6.7-liter turbodiesel, which in this case features a max output of 330 horsepower and 850 pound-feet of torque. All engines come in pair with modern 10-speed automatic transmission.
Release Date and Price
Considering that there are no significant changes to come for the next year, we presume that the 2021 Ford F-550 will hit the market in a typical time of year, sometime late in 2020. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 40.500 dollars.
2021 Ford F-600
One of the more interesting novelties in Ford’s lineup for the next year will be the addition of the all-new truck called F-600. This will be an upgraded version of the F-550, with improved capabilities and the ability to compete with medium-duty trucks. Most of the upgrades will be in terms of suspension. You may count on a new setup, upgraded cassis and new driveline. Furthermore, you may count on higher-weight-rated 19.5-inch tires and wheels. All these things will help F-600 in providing 22.000 pounds of max GVWR. The new truck is coming this summer.
