The 2021 Chevy El Camino comeback has been in conversations for years. Simply, the iconic coupe/ute still has a pretty big fanbase, despite we are talking about the segment that hasn’t been present in North America for decades. On the other side, this is still a quite popular type of vehicle in Australia, so lovers of coupe/ute models hope that GM could bring a new model, which would be offered in both markets. Of course, it would come as 2021 El Camino in North America. Unfortunately, the company is still quiet on this matter, so take the following paragraphs with a big reserve.
How would 2021 Chevy El Camino look like?
Well, the easiest thing to guess would be body style. If it ever comes back, we have no doubt that the 2021 Chevy El Camino would come with a familiar layout. This would mean a coupe/ute layout, which takes a little bit from two completely opposite worlds, coupes and pickups. On one side, the front end is designed in a typical sports car manner but there is no second row and cargo area. Instead, there is a typical truck bed. Still, the chassis and suspension setup would be far from truckish. These vehicles sit pretty low to the ground and they are actually pretty fast.
How about the platform?
Logically, you probably wonder which platform the new 2021 Chevy El Camino would use. Given the body style and expected RWD layout, we have no doubt it would be the company’s familiar Alpha platform, which undeprints the legendary Camaro, as well as a couple of Cadillac’s sports cars. This platform would be a perfect choice for the new ute, thanks to the RWD layout, wide engine choices and pretty lightweight character. This leads us to the styling. It seems quite likely to see the front end that looks similar or maybe completely identical to the new Camaro. The face, hood, and front part of the cabin could look pretty much the same. The rear end though, would come with a classic cargo bed.
Interior
From the inside, we don’t expect to see any surprises. If the new 2021 Chevy El Camino is about to have a lot of similarities with Camaro, we have no doubt that would be the case with the dashboard as well. This means a dashboard that is rather functional than luxurious, though we have no doubt the overall quality would be more than satisfying, especially in higher trim levels. Given the layout, you may count on a single row design, with two seats, though there is also a chance to see versions with a bench and capacity for three.
2021 Chevy El Camino Engines
Things are pretty clear here, so we expect that the 2021 Chevy El Camino would come with engines that typically come with Alpha platform. This means that base models would probably feature a familiar 3.6-liter V6 with around 335 horsepower. A V8 version is also expected and we count on a familiar 6.2-liter unit, in a version with 455 horsepower. ON the other side, we don’t expect the high-end version of the engine, which puts out more than 650 horsepower.
When it comes to the transmission, we expect that the automatic gearbox will be standard, but we hope that the manual gearbox will be in the offer as well.
Release Date and Price
The 2021 Chevy El Camino is nothing more than a rumor at the moment, so you should take it with a big reserve. When it comes to the price, base models would probably go around 30.000 dollars.
