Although a pretty fresh model, the current generation of the popular full-size pickup truck is about to receive an update for the next year. The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is about to come with a couple of interesting novelties and the thing that probably draws the most attention is the new interior design, which is about to bring significant improvements in terms of style and quality. Besides the new cabin, we might also see a couple of mechanical updates, particularly in terms of the suspension setup. Finally, there is always a chance to see novelties on the list of standard equipment. Other than these things, we don’t expect any other changes, although some sources suggest it’s electrification time.
In terms of base design characteristics, things will definitely remain the same. The new generation of this pickup truck came last year and it has brought significant improvements both in terms of performances and aesthetics. The truck comes in various versions, both in terms of configurations and powertrain options. We expect to see the new model on the market in the second half of the year.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Gets New Interior
Without any doubt, the biggest novelty for the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will be new interior design. You probably know the story about the previous redesign and that the company was in a hurry to launch the new generation, despite that the interior design wasn’t ready. The cabin remained pretty much the same as on the previous generation and was criticized by pretty much everyone except hardcore fans of this model. Fortunately, things are going to change soon.
The 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is about to come with a completely new cabin design and it looks quite promising. According to the latest reports, the new dashboard design will take a lot of inspiration from the recently introduced new-generation Tahoe and Suburban. This means far more attractive aesthetics, and a large tablet-like touchscreen in the middle. On the other side, it is still hard to say whether we are about to see a digital instrument cluster in the offer or not. The obvious improvement compared to the outgoing version is in terms of new materials, which feel finer and look more upscale.
On the other side, the overall cabin design will remain pretty much unchanged, so you may count on the same dimensions and proportions, as well as on the same cab styles in the offer.

2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Design Changes
Other than a new cabin, we won’t see such significant changes. Still, there is a big possibility to see changes in terms of suspension setup. According to the latest reports, we might see an independent rear suspension in the offer, the same one that has been offered in the new Tahoe and Suburban models. If this happens, we have no doubt this feature will be reserved for higher trim levels.
2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, you may count on the same options in the offer. Therefore, base models will carry on with a good-old 4.3-liter V6, which is good for about 285 horsepower, 305 lb-ft of torque and comes in pair with proven 6-speed automatic transmission.
Next in the line is a new 2.7-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Of course, you may also count on two familiar V8 units. The first one is a 5.3-liter engine, which features a max output of 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Depending on the engine choice, it comes in pair with either 8- or 10-speed automatic transmission.
The other V8 choice is a well-known 6.2-liter engine, which delivers 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Finally, there is a diesel version of the truck, which is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which is good for about 280 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. It also comes in pair with a 10-speed transmission.

Safety
When it comes to safety features, we don’t expect significant changes for the next year. Therefore, base models will come with things like a rearview camera and General Motors’ Teen Driver system. Higher trim levels gradually add more and more standard features, so you can get goodies like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a head-up display, a rearview mirror camera, a surround-view camera system etc.
2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 sometime in the second half of the year. Despite the novelties, we don’t expect bigger changes in terms of the price, so base versions should go around 28.500 dollars. The 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 will also come with new interior design.
