2021 Buick Avista

Is It Time for 2021 Buick Avista Production?

It’s been almost four years since this concept impressed media with its styling and overall design. With the super-sleek layout, full of curvy lines, this something we haven’t seen from Buick for a long, long time. Therefore, the instant question from the media was about the production version. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. This beautiful grand tourer remained nothing more than another concept car, but the latest reports suggest we might see something in the near future after all. According to them, the new model could hit the market as 2021 Buick Avista and it could have a lot of things in common with the gorgeous concept. At this point, these are just rumors, so take the following paragraphs with a reserve.

2021 Buick Avista Redesign

In terms of base design characteristics, the first thing that comes to mind is the platform and we definitely don’t expect any surprises in this aspect. The 2021 Buick Avista would ride on a well-known GM Alpha platform, the same one that underprints models like Chevy Camaro and Cadillac ATS Coupe. A big part of mechanics should be shared with these two models, while the RWD layout would be something we haven’t seen from a Buick for a long time. With around 110 inches in wheelbase, the new model wouldn’t feature too long overall size, due to pretty short overhangs, that make this car look so sporty.

Styling

Speaking of the styling, we hope the production model will have as many things in common with the concept as possible. Of course, we are talking about the same styling approach, which is all about the sleek profile and curvy lines. While the lines are curvy, the front face is one of the parts that impresses most. Of course, there is the company’s well-known three-shield logo and a single horizontal bar, but this model features a pretty sporty mesh grille, something we haven’t used to see from this brand. The rear end looks equally amazing and we particularly like how the company has accentuated the muscles,  around fenders and related areas. Of course, some of the things would change for the production version, though we definitely hope that some of the exclusive details, such as pillarless windows will remain.

Interior

The interior design of the concept looks equally impressive. The stylish dashboard emphasizes with a huge, odd-shaped screen, which integrates instrument cluster and infotainment system into a single unit. On the other side, the overall layout is pretty familiar, as we are talking about a genuine GT car, which would come with a typical 2+2 couple layout. There’s no doubt that many things would be changed for the production version, though we hope that some of the original flavors would remain.

2021 Buick Avista Engines

The concept version was presented with Cadillac’s new turbo engine. Of course, we are talking about a new 3.0-liter six-cylinder unit, which delivers around 400 horsepower and comes with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Such setup would definitely provide excellent performances, while we would also expect to see some hi-performance version, so a bigger 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 seems like a great choice as well.

Although we can find a lot of reports that suggest this model could finally enter serial production, we are still waiting to hear some words from the officials. At this point, the 2021 Buick Avista is nothing more than a rumor, but we hope this will change in the near future. Despite that many sources suggest production already for the end of this year, we don’t expect it could happen that soon. The next year sounds much more realistic. Meanwhile, we can only hope for good news about this gorgeous coupe.
