When it comes to full-size vans, this model takes special place on the market, and 2018 GMC Savana should continue in the pretty much same manner. This model is present since 1996. Current generation came in 2013. For almost 13 years of production, we didn’t see much of changes on this model. There is no crucial difference between 2017 and 2003 year model. Simply, mechanical details of the model remained pretty much the same, while list of equipment was updated and upgraded several time during these years. That is the main reason why Savana remained competitive during all these years. Many new models have come, but this one has its own trumps, and that is plenty of equipment. When it is about 2018 Savana, we don’t expect bigger changes. Redesign could come in about two or three years.
2018 GMC Savana features
As we already mentioned, long list of standard and optional features is definitely the main reason why this model is still competitive on the market. In pretty much all other aspects, 2018 GMC Savana won’t be much different than model that came 13 years ago. Design is pretty much the same. Even the styling wasn’t much improved. There are several variants of this van, but base classification is on passenger and cargo variant. In both cases, you get plenty of equipment. Already in standard package you get things like audio system, Bluetooth, OnStar 4G LTE connectivity, GMC IntelliLink infotainment system. Also, there are things like power windows, power adjustable seats, navigation, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 220-amp generator and many other.
2018 GMC Savana engines
The 2018 GMC Savana will feature the same offer, when it comes to engines. There are many variants in offer. Base model comes with 4.3 V6 with 190 horses. Next one is a 310-hp 5.3 liter V8 unit. Also, there is a 4.8 liter V8, designed especially for cargo variants. The most powerful engine is 6.0 liter V8, which has max output of 324 horsepower and 372 pound-feet of torque. The 2018 GMC Savana will also come in diesel variant, with 6.6 liter V8 engine that has 260 horses and 525 pound-feet of max torque.
2018 GMC Savana release date and price
The 2018 GMC Savana should come somewhere late next year. We expect to see pretty much the same price, which means that base mode should go around 30.000 dollars.
When on Earth is GM going to give a proper redesign to this ancient van? I’ll admit that they probably have the edge now that Ford has so foolishly dropped their E-Series vans which have been proven workhorses for the past 40+ years…while replacing it with a cheap plastic European piece of garbage. My Uncle works at a Ford plant and he says that these new Transit vans can’t hold up for anything, as the plastic bumpers constantly fall off and the doors ding up extremely easily.
