When you compete in the segment where the key players are models like F-150, Ram and Silverado, you definitely need a lot of things to offer to be competitive. That’s why GMC is bringing a lot of updates in the near future. The 2022 model is about to receive a middle cycle refresh, so we may presume that the 2023 GMC Sierra will come pretty much the same. However, the 2023 model could bring changes to the other end of the offer. It looks like this could be the year for a mid-cycle refresh of HD models. We are still waiting for the officials to hear more about this.
The light-duty 2023 GMC Sierra will carry on with familiar design characteristics as the 2022 model. This means a lot of novelties included, such as a completely new interior design, updated styling etc. On the other hand, HD models should also get a new look and new interior. Moreover, there is also a big chance to see upgrades under the hood.
Both versions are expected to arrive sometime in the second half of 2022.

2023 GMC Sierra Light Duty
The standard 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 will follow the changes introduced for the 2022 model. In other words, we count on a new styling, which will bring a new front-end design. There are new headlights to come, as well as a new grille and a revised bumper. On the other end, we don’t expect to see bigger changes at the rear end. Naturally, there is always room for things like new color options, new wheels etc.
Of course, models like AT4 and Denali will continue with their unique features and characteristics.
Interior
On the other hand, the 2022 update should bring a completely new interior. You probably know that the last redesign hasn’t brought any interior changes and that the current model features pretty much the same design as the previous generation. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but if you look at the cabins of models like Ram 1500 and the recently redesigned F-150, it’s hard to expect anyone to pick Sierra over these two.

That’s why we expect big improvements from the new model. We presume that a lot of inspiration will be taken from the new Yukon. The dashboard will get a new shape and nice materials. We also count on a new gear shifter, which won’t be mounted on the steering column anymore. Finally, a larger infotainment screen would be nice as well.
Engines
Things under the hood probably won’t change. The 2023 GMC Sierra will continue with a wide range of powertrain options on the offer, starting from a good-old 4.3-liter V6, which puts out around 285 horsepower. Of course, there is a newer-generation, much more efficient 2.7-liter turbo-four, which puts out 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque.
Still, the real deal starts with V8 units, such as a 5.3-liter V8, which is good for about 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. A bigger and more powerful 6.2-liter unit is also available, with a max output of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. There is also a diesel version, equipped with a 3.0-liter turbo V6, with a total output of 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

2023 GMC Sierra HD
When it comes to the 2023 GMC Sierra HD, this should be a year for a mid-cycle refresh. We expect a similar approach in terms of visual updates, on novelties in areas like the grille, headlights, bumpers, wheelbase etc.
Big changes are expected on the inside as well. These models should also get a completely new cabin design and we presume it will look pretty much the same as in the standard half-ton pickup.
Engines
Still, the bigger update should be under the hood. From what we know so far, the next year’s model is about to bring an upgraded version of the familiar 6.6-liter V8 turbodiesel. The current version puts out around 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. According to rumors, the output would be increased significantly, so the max power would go all-away up to 525 horsepower, while the max torque would go to the impressive 1.085 pound-feet of torque.
On the other hand, the gasoline version shouldn’t feature any changes. We count on a recently introduced 6.6-liter unit, which puts out around 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque.
While the turbodiesel comes in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the gasoline version still uses a good-old 6-speed unit.

2023 GMC Sierra Release Date and Price
We expect that both variants of the truck will arrive sometime in the last quarter of 2022. The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 should feature a starting price of around 31.000 dollars, while the HD series should be available at around 38.000 dollars.
