Acura’s biggest crossover has just been redesigned. The Japanese manufacturer has brought the latest iteration of the popular crossover, which is one of the first three-row SUVs we’ve seen. The new version brings significant improvements in various aspects and it is certainly one of the best models in the class, especially if we consider the amount of quality you get for the money. The 2023 Acura MDX will represent the second production year, so we don’t expect to see significant updates.
Still, some sources speculate about the possible electrification. The current model is available with two capable gasoline options, while the hybrid version could be introduced soon. Other than that, things should remain the same. Therefore, you may count on a crossover that offers a lot of athleticism, in a combination with spacious and practical cabin.
We expect to see the 2023 Acura MDX sometime in the last quarter of 2022.

2023 Acura MDX Design
Design-wise, the 2023 Acura MDX will continue in the same way. The new generation has brought a lot of improvements. There is a new platform, shared with the new TLX, which brings improvements regarding ride quality. We like its precise steering, while the overall handling is surprisingly good. This is one of the most fun-to-drive models in the class, even though it is a front-wheel-drive car. Of course, you can always get a version with an all-wheel drive, for even better performance.
Of course, the all-new styling was introduced as well. It has brought the evolution of the previous design language, with an even sharper design approach than before. Naturally, the second production year won’t bring any particular changes, though it’s always possible to see new color options on the offer. Moreover, we won’t be surprised if we see some new visual package on the offer as well.
Interior
The same thing goes for interior design. Things will remain the same, which means you may count on the same layout, which has a lot of good things to offer. The cabin may not look as flashy when compared to most premium rivals, but the overall quality is actually pretty impressive. The materials are really nice, while the fit and finish are excellent.

Besides good overall quality, we like the level of practicality this SUV offers. The new generation features 2.8 inches in wheelbase, which is easy to notice once you look at the seats. This model offers three rows of seats and the first two are more than generous with space, while the third one is reasonably spacious as well. When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 16.3 cubic feet of room behind the third-row seats, 39.1 cubic feet with the third-row seats folded down, and 71.4 of the total cargo volume. That’s above average for the segment.
Features
We don’t believe that too many things could change for the 2023 Acura MDX. Most of the things should remain the same as in the current model. The current model comes standard with goodies like tri-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch display, a touchpad controller, a nine-speaker stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio, USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, Amazon Alexa, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, you can get goodies like navigation, additional USB ports, and a 12-, 16-, or 25-speaker ELS audio system.
When it comes to safety, the current model comes standard with a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, traffic jam assist, rear cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition etc. Among upgrades, you can find things like a head-up display, front and rear parking sensors, surround-view camera system etc.

2023 Acura MDX Engines
The current model comes with two engines on offer. Base models come with a familiar 3.5-liter V6, which features a max output of 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission and the overall performance is more than satisfying, while we also adore the overall level of mechanical refinement.
If you’re looking for something performance-oriented, there is the Type S model, equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, which puts out around 355 horsepower and offers notably better performance.
For the 2023 Acura MDX, we can hear rumors about the hybrid version. Details are still unavailable but from what we can hear, it will probably be a plug-in hybrid.

2023 Acura MDX Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Acura MDX will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022. Base models should go around 48.000 dollars. When it comes to the competition, key rivals are models like BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Volvo XC90 etc.
