2021 Chrysler Pacifica AWD, Facelift, Changes, Pinnacle

This year will be pretty interesting in the segment of minivans, as one of the most popular models is coming with significant updates. The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is getting a facelift. Actually, it gets much more than that, considering that there are not just visual novelties, but the new version also gets a lot of interesting things under the skin. This particularly refers to the drivetrain, as the new Pacifica will offer AWD systems, which has been Toyota Sienna’s exclusive feature so far. Also, there is a new flagship trim level called Pinnacle, while the company has also introduced a new infotainment system, which mounts on a bigger touchscreen.

All these things should ensure Pacifica’s leading position on the market. Moreover, we might even see some improvements in this aspect, as the new look includes some pretty crossover-like elements. The new version had a premiere at the Chicago Auto Show, but it looks like it won’t hit the market so soon.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Facelift

The 2021 Chrysler Pacifica comes with loads of novelties, but those visual changes seem most prominent. That’s no wonder, considering that the amount of visual changes is pretty impressive. Of course, most of the novelties came at the front. You can see a completely new face, which utilizes a new pair of headlights, as well as a new, bigger grille, which features a pretty attractive 3D mesh pattern. The bumper is also completely new and also comes with a large air intake below the grille, designed in a typical crossover manner.  The rear end also comes with interesting novelties, as there are new taillights that span the full width of the minivan. The overall shape remains largely the same, but it is also fulfilled with new sets of wheels, which come in a range from 17 to 21 inches.

When it comes to interior design, the biggest novelty is a new infotainment system. The first thing you’ll notice is a new infotainment system, which measures 10.1 inches diagonally. Of course, it’s not all about the screen size, but there is also the newest 5.0 version of the famous Uconnect software, which includes all kinds of updates and upgrades, as well as some new features, such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also, we should mention that higher trims come with a new center console design, which provides better ergonomics, more storage space and improved overall functionality.

On the other side, the overall cabin design remains largely the same. Base models come with eight seats, though most drivers prefer versions with second-row captain’s chairs, which reduce seating capacity to seven. One of the good things to know is that the new AWD system doesn’t affect the overall interior functionality, so these versions will also feature seats that fold flat. Unfortunately, Hybrid models won’t be characterized by such functionality. Instead, you will have to remove the second row completely.

Pinnacle and Trim Levels

Another interesting novelty for the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is a new Pinnacle trim level. This is the new range-topping trim, which comes with loads of interesting features. Some of the most notable things we should mention is the use of materials like wood and Nappa leather. Also, there are luxury touches like second-row captain’s chairs pillows and the aforementioned Ultra center console.

The rest of the trim level organization is familiar. There are three trim levels under the Pinnacle – Touring, Touring L and Limited. A big change is that the hybrid version is not a separate trim anymore, but rather an optional powertrain,  available across the whole range of models.

2021 Chrysler Pacifica Engines

When it comes to the powertrain department, there is also one big novelty, despite that the engines are the same. For the first time, Pacifica is available with the AWD system, which will be available in all models with the gasoline engine. At this point, we don’t know too many details about the new AWD system, but it looks like it will feature a lot of advanced things, including additional clutch at the rear differential that should have a highly positive effect on the fuel economy.

In terms of engines, things will remain the same, just as we mentioned. The standard engine will be a familiar 3.6-liter V6, which in this case delivers around 287 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.  The optional hybrid powertrain will also remain the same, combining the V6 engine with an electric motor for a total output of 260 horsepower. This system comes in pair with a 15-kWh battery pack that ensures around 30 miles of all-electric range.

Release Date and Price

Despite that the new model already had a premiere, it won’t hit the market before the second half of the year. When it comes to the price, we still don’t if there be some changes compared to the current model, which starts at around 34.000 dollars.
