The small crossover has been around for a while, but the latest reports suggest that the current version will remain in production for a little bit more time. At this point, it looks like the 2021 Chevrolet Trax won’t feature any particular change. The subcompact crossover has been on the North American market since 2015, although the initial production started a little bit earlier in other parts of the world. That’s the reason why the next year might be one of the last production years for the current generation. We can’t say what’s going to happen in the future.
On the other side, we can say what will happen with the 2021 Chevrolet Trax. It will keep its familiar characteristics, which means it will be a great choice for everyone who searches for an affordable small city car, which offers impressive maneuverability and excellent infotainment system. Of course, there are a couple of drawbacks, but that seems natural given the model’s age. The interior isn’t particularly attractive, while the engine would definitely use a little bit more power. We expect to see it sometime late in the year.

2021 Chevrolet Trax Redesign
When it comes to base design characteristics, the next-year model definitely won’t change. The 2021 Chevrolet Trax will carry on with the same design, which is based on a well-known Gamma II platform, which underprints a variety of small vehicles from GM. In terms of styling, this model has received an update three years ago. For that occasion, we saw a new front end, with new headlights, grille and bumper, all inspired by Malibu and Volt models. New taillights also came, as well as new wheels and color options.
However, we are still talking about the same vehicle that arrived years ago. Many competitors have been redesigned meanwhile and feature better overall characteristics. That’s one of the reasons why we believe that the replacement should come soon and that the 2021 Chevrolet Trax will be one of the last year models of the current generation.
Interior
Given the model’s age, it’s no wonder that many see the cabin as the weakest point of this small crossover. Chevy models are generally known for unimpressive interior quality so you can imagine how this all works in a subcompact class. There is a lot of areas that feature cheap plastic surfaces, while the aesthetical approach seems a little bit odd as well. On the other side, we have to say that Trax offers a decent amount of interior space, so even adults can accommodate comfortably on shorter trips.

The cargo area is pretty much typical for the class, as you may count on about 19 cubic feet. The rear seat folds almost flat and when they are down, the cargo volume goes up to 48.5 cubic feet.
Features
The latest reports suggest that the range-topping Premier trim will be deleted for the next year. However, we still don’t know if this means replacement with something else, or the 2021 Chevrolet Trax will carry on with just two models in the offer, LS and LT. This may have a big impact on the list of standard equipment.
Currently, this crossover comes standard with goodies like a 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, Wi-Fi hot spot etc. In higher trim levers you can also get satellite radio, remote start, proximity keyless entry, a sunroof, and a seven-speaker Bose premium stereo.
While the list of tech goodies may seem okay for a subcompact crossover, things aren’t that good when it comes to safety. A rearview camera is the only standard feature. Fortunately, the list of options is relatively decent and includes things like forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.

2021 Chevrolet Trax Engine
We definitely don’t expect to see changes under the hood of 2021 Chevrolet Trax. It will carry on with a familiar 1.4-liter turbo-four, which comes in pair with a 6-speed automatic transmission. A max output goes around 138 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque, which seems okay for a daily ride. On the other side, those who are used on a little bit faster drive won’t find this engine satisfying at all. Also, many complain about the transmission and its not so impressive level of refinement.
On the other side, fuel economy is average for the class. You may count on about 26 mpg in the city and 31 on the highway.
2021 Chevrolet Trax Release Date and Price
Considering that there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we presume that the launch date will be scheduled for the end of 2020. When it comes to the 2021 Chevrolet Trax price, base models should go around 21.500 dollars. Some of the key competitors are models like Ford EcoSport, Jeep Renegade, Mazda CX-3, Toyota C-HR etc.
