After the recent mid-cycle update, we are pretty sure that the 2021 Cadillac XT5 won’t feature too many important changes. Simply, the recent refresh has brought everything this model needed – slight styling updates, new base engine, new transmission and more safety features. Considering all this, it looks like the new model won’t need many updates until the complete overhaul.
That means you may count on the familiar characters in the 2021 Cadillac XT5. The mid-size crossover rides on a familiar C1 platform and offers two spacious rows of seats. Also, it is quiet at a higher speed while the suspension setup is pretty soft. Add to this a pretty affordable starting price and relatively simple trim level organization, and we could say this crossover seems like a pretty rational choice for those who want premium quality but don’t want to spend enormous amounts of money. Considering that no bigger changes are expected, we presume that the new model will hit the market in a typical time of year, sometime in the last quarter of 2020.
2021 Cadillac XT5 Design
In terms of base design characteristics, the 2021 Cadillac XT5 definitely won’t change. This model has been around since 2017 and we are pretty sure that it will remain in the current form for several more years. A well-known C1 platform brings a lot of benefits to this model, especially in terms of space and comfort. On the other side, those who are looking for a sporty ride should skip this model, as the handling and overall driving experience have always been a weak point of this architecture.
On the other side, you may count on a quite attractive styling. The recent update has brought minimal change, so the look remains largely the same. The only important change is a new grille and keep in mind that there are two designs in the offer, depending on the trim level you choose.
2021 Cadillac XT5 Interior
When it comes to the interior, we haven’t seen too many fundamental changes either. Of course, there are new color schemes and more standard equipment, but the overall layout is still the same. Practically, the only major change is a new center console. The reason is a new transmission, which comes with an electronic gear selector, which replaces the old-fashioned gear lever.
In terms of the interior space, this crossover stands pretty good. The company didn’t want to bother with the third row, which would be tight anyway. Therefore, 112.5 inches in wheelbase seem great for a two-row crossover. As a result, both rows are very generous in terms of space. Also, the front seats are massive and supportive.
When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 30 cubic feet behind the third row, while the overall capacity goes up to 63, which are pretty typical numbers for the class.
Every year brings novelties in terms of standard equipment. Still, we don’t expect to see anything significant in the near future, so most of the things should remain the same in the 2021 Cadillac XT5. When it comes to tech goodies, this means that base models will come with things like 8-inch touch screen, voice recognition, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HD Radio, Bluetooth, four USB ports, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, and satellite radio, which seems pretty generous for the base model. Additionally, you can get things like navigation, premium sound system etc.
When it comes to safety, count on a lot of goodies. Some of the highlights are things like ain-sensing windshield wipers, rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision alert, a safety alert seat, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane change assist, blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian braking, forward and reverse automatic braking, the following distance indicator, adaptive cruise control, a rear-camera mirror, automatic high beams, active park assist, a head-up display, and a surround-vision camera. At this point, it is still early to say which ones will be standard, and which will be options.
2021 Cadillac XT5 Engine
The biggest change of the recent update was under the hood. There is a new base engine, which joins the V6. It is a new version of 2.0-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 237 horsepower. It is less powerful than the previous version, but also much more efficient. On the other side, the V6 continues in the same way. A well-known 3.6-liter unit is good for about 310 horsepower. Both engines come with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
2021 Cadillac XT5 Engine Release Date and Price
Considering that no bigger changes are expected or the next year, we presume that the 2021 Cadillac XT5 Engine will arrive sometime in the last quarter of 2020. When it comes to the price, the base model current goes around 42.000 dollars and we don’t expect bigger changes in the future.
